What is NIHA?

Better health delivery services in Asia through improved Research, Governance and Sustainable Financing

NIHA (NUS Initiative to Improve Health in Asia) is an integrative initiative to improve public health and healthcare delivery in Asia. NIHA is made possible with S$17 million, 10-year funding from the GlaxoSmithKline-Economic Development Board Trust Fund, and is coordinated by the NUS Global Asia Institute (NUS GAI), in collaboration with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and the NUS Business School. NIHA will also collaborate with other institutions with relevant experience in Singapore and internationally.


The ultimate goal of NIHA is to strengthen health delivery services in Asia through improved research, governance and sustainable financing. NIHA aims to have a highly relevant, wide-ranging and significant impact through its multi-disciplinary activities.

• Elevate Singapore to a leading position in healthcare policy and related research



Calendar of Activities

NIHA comprises a high quality portfolio of cutting edge research, high-level forums and a Leadership Program. The research and forum in health policy provide greater insights to formulate the Leadership Program that will train a talented pool of professionals in the field and enhance the capabilities and competencies of regulators and healthcare policy-makers.
